This Saturday, July 10, AVANGRID will join the nation in celebrating National Lineworker Appreciation Day. Lineworkers are the frontline of the business, the boots on the ground ensuring that our communities Power On.

Day-to-day, or as we call it “blue sky days,” our lineworkers are the keepers of the grid—maintaining and enhancing the system and restoring power when pesky squirrels cause an issue. When bad weather bears down, our lineworkers are there to respond—working tirelessly until each and every customer’s power is restored. AVANGRID’s lineworkers are active members of the communities they live and work in and strive to make a difference, even when off the clock, through community service, involvement and support of local nonprofits, and more.

Our customers continue to express their sincere appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our frontline workers by writing into the operating companies and sharing their experiences on social media.

In New York, Gary D., a NYSEG customer, recently wrote into Carl Taylor, CEO of our New York companies, about an experience he had with a crew from NYSEG following an outage caused by a downed tree. He detailed the team’s response, expressing his gratitude for their sense of urgency and their attentiveness, saying “I was very impressed with the professionalism of your employees. Although we were inconvenienced with a nine-hour power outage, we got to meet some great guys.”

In Maine, a downed tree knocked out power on a small island in Harpswell this spring. CMP customers Jonathan and Kelly wrote in to thank the crew that responded, saying, “They were patient with me and my questions and really put me at ease that we would be able to solve the problems and get power turned back on in the end. It was also fun to see them all work together, the veterans and a rookie. As stressed out as I was, I knew we were in capable hands.”

And in Connecticut, customers took to social media this spring to express their thanks and gratitude for the hard work of UI crews, with Dawn H. commenting, “Thank you UI crews for getting the power back up so quickly in Stratford today, you are much appreciated!”
