AVANGRID is accepting applications for a new round of scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year, available to students pursuing master’s studies in select fields in the United States.

The program is for students in their final year of study or recent graduates who want to continue their education in data science, engineering, renewable energy and smart distribution networks. Applications are being accepted through March 29. For more information, visit avangrid.com.

Meanwhile, a total of 97 recipients of the previous round of AVANGRID and Iberdrola Scholarships, for the 2018-2019 academic year, were recently honored at the Iberdrola Talent Day event in Madrid, attended by Iberdrola Group Chairman Ignacio Galán and Queen Letizia of Spain.

Iberdrola, S.A., is the majority shareowner of AVANGRID, a leading U.S.-based sustainable energy company.

Scholarship recipients from the United States (see list) joined peers from Spain, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Holland, Germany and the Czech Republic. They received a combined $3.4 million in scholarship funds to pursue studies in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Mexico.

“We are proud to have contributed to the education of almost 4,000 university students in just five years; 4,000 stories of hard work and success,” Galán said.

Galán thanked the Queen Letizia for supporting “the new generations, called to transform today’s reality into their reality tomorrow; in a more globalized, fairer world with more solidarity.” He said it is crucial that talented people help to make the world a more sustainable place by protecting the environment and biodiversity.

AVANGRID Scholarships for Master’s Studies in the United States is looking to support students who are big thinkers: innovators, creators and doers, who display a passion for driving the energy industry forward with ground breaking approaches derived from their education.
