Meanwhile, a total of 97 recipients of the previous round of AVANGRID and Iberdrola Scholarships, for the 2018-2019 academic year, were recently honored at the Iberdrola Talent Day event in Madrid, attended by Iberdrola Group Chairman Ignacio Galán and Queen Letizia of Spain.
Iberdrola, S.A., is the majority shareowner of AVANGRID, a leading U.S.-based sustainable energy company.
Scholarship recipients from the United States (see list) joined peers from Spain, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Holland, Germany and the Czech Republic. They received a combined $3.4 million in scholarship funds to pursue studies in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Mexico.
“We are proud to have contributed to the education of almost 4,000 university students in just five years; 4,000 stories of hard work and success,” Galán said.
Galán thanked the Queen Letizia for supporting “the new generations, called to transform today's reality into their reality tomorrow; in a more globalized, fairer world with more solidarity.” He said it is crucial that talented people help to make the world a more sustainable place by protecting the environment and biodiversity.
