UI COMPLETES TOTAL RESTORATION

A MESSAGE TO OUR CUSTOMERS FROM UI PRESIDENT & CEO TONY MARONE

The devastation caused by Tropical Storm Isaias was seen across all 17 cities and towns in UI’s service territory. The destructive winds and heavy rain resulted in more than 1,700 separate outage-causing events, including nearly 150 broken poles and more than 1,000 downed wires. Crews worked diligently day and night to restore service as safely and quickly as possible to the more than 123,000 impacted customers. Last evening, we completed our restoration efforts.

Although power has been restored to all impacted customers, our work is far from complete. You will continue to see our crews for weeks to come hard at work inspecting and fortifying our systems, particularly where there was extensive damage. Crews will continue to conduct full patrols of our system to inspect work and make additional repairs as necessary. As this work is completed, some customers may experience intermittent and temporary outages.

In closing, on behalf of the entire UI team, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we completed restoration efforts. As we move forward, our priority will remain providing you with safe and reliable electric service. We do not take this responsibility lightly and look forward to continuing to serve you.
